We are going to host Prof Rashad from Tohoku University, Japan!
Prof Rashad graduated from Alexandria University School of Medicine, Egypt, in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery. After that, he trained as a resident neurosurgeon in Alexandria University with subspeciality in cerebrovascular diseases and endovascular therapy. Prof Rashad moved to Japan in 2014 to enroll in PhD program under the supervision of Prof Teiji Tominaga, the head of the Neurosurgery Department, Tohoku University at the time. After completing his degree in 2018, Prof Rashad began his academic career as an Assistant Professor. In 2022, Prof Rashad Joined the Department of Biological Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a visiting professor and worked under Professor Peter Dedon for a year. Prof Rashad received his tenure in 2023 when he became an Associate Professor at Tohoku University, Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering. Prof Rashad's research focus heavily on the molecular mechanisms regulating neurological diseases such as brain tumors, stroke, and neurodegenerative disorders. His main area of focus is RNA and tRNA biology of diseases, and his research has interrogated fundamental phenomena in RNA and tRNA biology as well as translational research.
